Okay guys,
Firstly, I'd like to say we have to find a solution ASAP and I'm (as always) leaving everything up to the vote of the league.
Secondly, I'd like to direct you to the "updates" section at the bottom of the league page on yahoo. Check out Arch's (Harold of the Rocks) issue. Basically, for players like Adam Wainwright (and Kendrys Morales last year) who end up getting hurt for the entire season after being drafted/kept, an issue is created when other players get hurt. They obviously have no trade value either.
Here are the solutions I can think of:
1. Tough luck - players get hurt and sometimes you'll get hit with multiple injuries in a season. Wainwright's DL length shouldn't matter. We can figure out a solution next year if necessary.
2. You are free to drop the player into the WW pool but he will be restricted from anyone picking him up. You have to formally declare that you are keeping him next year for him to be restricted and you HAVE to keep him once you make the decision and drop him (no flip flopping at the end of the year thereby keeping your options open). This obviously won't be very official, but I can prevent anyone from picking Wainwright up, but we should honor the rule and not get to that point anyway.
3. Extra DL spots - just to help with situations like this. Simple enough.
4. We could also set a rule that anyone that gets drafted will be kept at whatever round he's drafted in DESPITE being picked up from the WW pool. So if I draft Cruz in the 4th round (obviously didn't) and drop him for whatever reason, he will be a 4th round keeper for anyone who picks him up (instead of a 25th). This will be different from undrafted players who will count as a 25th.
5. Other - suggestions? Post below and I'll rework the poll.
Let me know what you think! We have to come to a solution fast so please take the time to vote and post input.
