Hello everyone,
We are in the home stretch of the draft.
Now, there has been some frustration with the length of time between picks now and again. First, and most importantly, I would like to re-iterate that each manager has 24 hours to make a pick. We all agreed to this system when we signed up. Perhaps we need to change that next year, but the rules are what they are. But these type of draft are called "Slow Drafts" for a reason, right?
Delays in picking does happen....this is a fact of life. I have asked everyone to pick as efficiently as possible, but again, the bottom line is 24 hours per pick. We have plenty of time before the season to finish this draft. So please, refrain from PMing, emailing, texting or venting your frustration on the message board. Believe me....I am well aware of how the draft is proceeding. And while it can be frustrating from time to time, this is the system we have.
The last thing I want is for people to get angry with the draft in any way. So please, let's try our best to keep the draft moving. But having said that...the rules are well established and there really should not be any complaints. Frustrating, maybe. But such is the nature of a slow draft. We are all trained to get everything at a moments notice these days, so a slow draft runs counter to that. The first one I did, I hated it. Last year I appreciated the style much better and this year, even with the frustrating aspects factored in...I would not want to do it any differently.
So please....let's all do a little bit to make the draft smoother for everyone. Whether that means leaving lists or keeping venting to yourself...let's please make an effort to make this work.
One thing that goes a long way toward keeping everyone happy, is that if you expect not to pick for some time, either leave a message on the board or with me, simply stating that there will be a delay. I think people are a lot more comfortable with a delay with a reasonable expected length attached than an indefinitely long one. Again...the number one reason for using a slow draft....everyone gets the team they want. Nobody should feel rushed.
Thank you for your understanding of my position in this....one where I cannot possibly make everyone happy...and that's an additional source of frustration for me.
Let's finish this, and get to focusing on Spring Training.
Thank you.
Eric
