There needs to be some form of solution here... if a high caliber player is drafted, dropped, and picked up off the WW... in which round is he kept?
Let's try to be fair here, guys. Not everyone wants their opponent to steal Kendry Morales or Joe Nathan in the 25th, but we should still try to vote without bias.
I personally think we should go HALFWAY. If Morales is drafted in the 6th, then dropped and picked back up, he should be kept in the 15th (25 + 6 = 31 / 2 = 15.5 ~ 15th round). HERE'S WHY:
1. I can see both sides. Part of me thinks that the owner should be rewarded for hanging onto the player, and he should be kept in the 25th. The other part of me understands the issues with this, and thinks there should be a balance. 2. What about players who don't get hurt and flat out suck? If I draft Ben Zobrist in the 5th, he sucks all season long, and becomes a 12th round caliber player over the next few years, why should the next owner be forced to keep him in the 5th?
Thoughts?

I personally believe that players should be kept based on where they were drafted starting next season. It would be unfair to turn around and punish teams that picked up Morales and Nathan for example since we didn't have a rule in place to begin with. However, in the case of a Zobristesque player, I believe he should retain his 5th round status and simply not be kept for next season.

I voted OTHER, and I think we should just stick to the MLB rules.
I propose the addition of "60 day DL" where one can "dump" season-ending injuries who then wouldn't count towards the roster size, but would still be a part of that team. This would have to be done manually I guess, but it wouldn't punish anyone for random, freak accidents.
The "60 day DL" would only become available to those players that are on that list with their baseball clubs. So, if you had Ellsbury this year, you wouldn't be able to use it.
Upon the season ending that player is either returned to the pool with possibility to be redrafted or kept at the normal keeper price, depending on the managers decision. Also, should that player come back to his team during the ongoing season, the manager would have to make the same move and create a spot on the current roster.
This means that keeping Strasburg would cost a manager one keeper and one year on Stras contract each year he's kept, but wouldn't cost him a roster spot for the entire next season (if he comes back 2012).
All the other reasons (sucking, injury prone etc) don't count and if a player is released he can be picked up and possibly kept at FA keeper price (25th round).

I voted "original draft round" starting next year. I do still think we should also consider expanding DL slots, if possible.

Arch- not a bad suggestion. From here on, "Other" will refer to yours (unless specified... we can tally everything afterward).
And Eric, thanks for reminding me. These polls are all for changes to be made starting in 2011 (except for the $25 poll).
