Glad you took Fielder, Jack. Because if he was still there when it got to me, I would have been in a pickle with Encarnacion and Goldschmidt already on my roster.

I gotta tell you, that sucked ass. Fielder would fit so nicely with me and saved me a ton of troubles and tinkering around.

I love how every guy I hoped to be there for my picks, were taken. It's a good sign for the league...not so good for my attempt to 3peat. I NEVER take pitching early....but kinda feel like I was forced into it here. Hopefully Kersh is a nice 2nd round keeper for a few years.

I liked Kershaw last year, but he has had some rough outings, which can suck for H2H as he's so dominant otherwise. Don't start him @coors

I know I've been messing up the boards by commenting in the wrong areas, but is this where we post about reaching for 33 year old career .252 hitters with tender wrists? I see your logic to some degree. If you're right about a bounceback from both Kemp and Jose, you're in awesome shape. If not, you'll be left playing with your RA Dickey. A few things: Bautista turns 33 at the END of the season. Using BA as a means in your argument is humorous, since he is drafted for his 40+ homers, 100+ rbi and 100+ BB. I'm not worried about bounce backs from those two, because their "down" years were due to injury, not decline. Kemp had played in EVERY game for 4 straight years and this was Bautista's only injury in his pro career (at least injury that required surgery(. Let's also not forget that Bautista was a top 10 pick the previous two years and would have been one of the first 3 players selected in this draft had he not gotten injured last year. Nice attempt at saying he has "tender wrists" after the ONLY wrist injury he's ever suffered. Two bad it looks like the power is back AND he is in a fairly loaded line up. But hey, I didn't reach for a player after a career year buoyed by a high BABIP or anything

Bautista has definitely been one of the most valuable players in this league when he is healthy due to the huge numbers of walks he gets, in combination with his massive power, decent to good average and handful of steals. A large portion of beau's success the past several years has been due to having him as a late round keeper.
That said...I was thinking I'd be drafting him at the end of the 1st round. Definitely did not think he'd be taken where he was.

Too bad Nate took Hanley before he could drop to me though

Well, there are career years, and there are career years. A guy entering his prime, who has put up better numbers each year over 4 years (the last 3 with 150+ games after the 108 after callup in year 1), makes me think the next 3 years are at least more likely to look like the previous one, despite a bit of BABIP enhancement. He's not exactly Brady Anderson, he's one of the best young players in the game. Yes, clearly the .252 is a silly cheap shot, and isn't that meaningful in the context of JB's other massive potential fantasy contributions. But it is a good reminder that his career had a long and unproductive period, that it's now more probable that he's peaked, and that even if he is completely healthy, I'd guess we're looking at something like a Luis Gonzalez-esque post-2002 career arc going forward. Which should be a lot less enjoyable in 2014 or 2015. That's if he's even on the field, given the potential that the wrist has to sap the power completely if there's a setback. I'm just a little more leery of a guy with wrist tendon sheath surgery, which is supposedly SUPER SCAAAARY... www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=19249 www.bluejayhunter.com/2013/02/what-caused-jose-bautistas-wrist-injury.html...and who is a Dominican 32. i.e., possibly 37. But, to each his own. I just did essentially the same thing - picked OF's in the first two rounds of a league with only 3 OF slots, one of the two being an older slugger who miraculously arrived on the scene to put up gigantic numbers in 2010 after a long period in limbo (drugged stupor vs. Pittsburgh/minors/bench). Now before you rip on my poor curly ginger fellow, admittedly, Josh goes on the DL for things like lack of chewing tobacco and needs special contact lenses or something for daytime, and has a tender brain instead of wrist, and a giant keychain collection that sometimes hurts his butt when he slides. My argument in his favor is this: la la la la la la (fingers in ears). I got Hamilton and he's going to be just fine. la la la la la la la la (fingers in ears). Now that Anthony and I have argued about which one of us is sillier for taking two risky/reachy OF's in the first two rounds, who wants to trade one of us a 1B?

Make me an offer for a 1B and we'll talk.

For anyone who doesn't have their roster listed/updated in the 2013 Rosters section it would be hugely appreciated if you could list it there. I'm going to drive myself nuts going to keeper pages, draft pages and trying to figure out who has what on their roster already. Thanks guys.

Kinsler is on the trade block, if anyone is looking for a proper 2B I thought one of your 2B may go on the block as soon as I noticed that you already had 3 of them at this stage of the draft. Tough to pass on Kinsler there though, I almost took him at 03.01
